2050 Plan Layout & Design

Our team collaborated with New Castle County (NCC) staff to create an accessible, innovative plan grounded in the community’s shared vision for 2050 that was conveyed in a colorful, modern, easy to read plan document. To decide the look and feel of the document, our team created a custom template that included the main elements of design: titles, text/typefaces, visuals, graphics, color, and whitespace for approval before designing the rest of the document. Once the template was established, we made sure the content was able to be easily read by visually organizing it in a meaningful and engaging layout. Recognizing the NCC2050 Plan was a more voluminous document than previous plans, we worked with the County to divide the document into 3 sections: The Plan, The Topics, and The Tools. This combined with the use of color, icons, images, charts, and graphics helps readers to understand and navigate the goals and objectives of the plan. Now complete and available online, NCC2050 Plan will serve as the foundation for planning and land use in New Castle County for the next three decades. The NCC2050 Comprehensive Plan was the recipient of the 2022 Outstanding Planning Project Award given by the Delaware Chapter of the American Planning Association.
