Powerline Rebuild: Ryceville to Morgantown

Photo Renderings for Powerline Alternative Route Analysis

The Challenge:

Produce a series renderings of both continuous overhead and underground powerline options for both sides of a river crossing.

How We Helped:

The Viz Team modeled a photo-realistic depiction of the proposed overhead and underground towers using RailClone, a 3DS Max plugin, modeled 2 variations of the proposed tower alignment adjacent to the existing lattice towers, which also had to be Photoshopped out of the original photos. By combining UAS aerial photos and a .kmz file containing existing lattice tower heights (provided by the client) with Google Earth terrain elevation data, the Viz Team was able to effectively photo-match the proposed tower locations to the existing towers, and ultimately produced 4 photo-realistic high-resolution aerial renderings. The renderings were included in a final ARA report to the client.
