SEPTA METRO Interactive System Map

SEPTA employs a novel Public Engagement Strategy to introduce their new wayfinding system.

The Challenge:

Develop an interactive system map and related media-rich web pages to introduce “SEPTA METRO,” an accessible, interactive wayfinding, and mobile-friendly application to create brand awareness and collect public feedback.

How We Helped:

The SEPTA METRO system will unite and rebrand several existing rail lines under a single moniker with the aim of improving and simplifying the rider experience. The METRO brand alters the naming, colors, typography, iconography, signage, and maps associated with several of the region’s most historic and frequently ridden lines. In collaboration with SEPTA's Planning Department and wayfinding consultant Entro, McCormick Taylor conceptualized, designed, and developed an interactive system map and related media-rich web pages. The custom digital products that McCormick Taylor developed for the initiative's public commenting period helped SEPTA engage a large and diverse audience, visualize complex concepts and research, and collect feedback on their vision for the future of transit in the region.
